Grenade

The Mills Bomb Grenade circa 1942

The grenade is a thrown explosive, which is used by the Sapper in most games. A very powerful weapon within the Commandos series, it is capable of splash damage which can affect enemies within a 3 meter range. It is ideal for enemy patrols or groups of soldiers huddled together.

The grenade can cause collateral damage to the Commandos. It can be thrown through a window or door killing every one near it.

Enemy Troops can make use of this grenade to an extent depending on the game, in Commandos 2 and 3, dedicated "Grenadier" enemies are the only ones that will use it while in Commandos: Strike Force, enemies will rarely throw the grenade in combat.

Trivia[]

  • It is based on the British Mills bomb grenade in C1/2/3 and the American Mk 2 "Pineapple" grenade in Strike Force and the HD Remasters.
  • Obviously it is a noisy weapon so if used the player must make sure that no enemy hearing the explosion finds out his location or be prepared for a firefight.
  • Grenades sound alarms
  • Can be found in boxes, cupboards, drawers etc.
  • In Commandos 3/Commandos Strike Force any Commando can use a grenade. (Normal Grenades only in 3, all grenades in Strike Force.)
  • Grenades can destroy any vehicles in C1-3 (Though Tanks will take many grenades) while in Strike Force, they can destroy any vehicle aside from Tanks. (Sdkfz 251's will take several grenades.)
  • In Strike Force's leaked PS2 beta, there are textures for a cut Stielhandgranate German grenade that would have been presumably used by enemies but was cut for unknown reasons.
